President-elect Trump's transition into the White House has been fraught with clashes with the press, but veterans of White House press operations say it's not too late for the icy relationship to thaw, and that it's in Trump's interest to use the press to his advantage. So, can Trump and the press kiss and make up? Comments please.

The media has made their bed, now they will have to sleep in it. Many major news organizations not only out rightly supported Clinton but worked against Trump. They ran many negative stories on him, protected Clinton and tried to demonize him. They need to have their comeuppance.

The have not been behaving as a free press should, fairly and with as little bias as possible, reporting the news. They have been partisans and cheerleaders for the democrats. The press needs to prove they can be fair and impartial (or close to it) in their coverage and reporting. I would put NBC, CBS, ABC, NYT, WaPo and a few others in the back row until they modified their behavior. Never call on them at pressers and let them stew in the juices of their inequity for a while.

SP5 Mark Kuzinski Personally I hope he keeps them out of the loop. I hope he continues to change the press corps in the White House for the next four years. The News media deserves it. They have tried to influence and control the American people and the elections for way too long. Just my 2 cents!

All 'news' is paid advertising and opinion pieces. The owners, editors, producers, and news anchors need to stop pretending they are objective journalist, we know they are hacks.
Either establish standard practice and ask similar questions of each party or just admit bias upfront.
I think we need this period of confronted 4th estate to establish new standards and regain trusted sources. I think Trump and the GOP needs accountability, just to keep everyone honest.

I have more faith in dumpster dive shusi, Flint River tap water, A Bian William's war story and A Jason Blair New York Times article than I do the press. Right now they are working as hard as they can to undermine Trump's legitimacy as president. You could bet your last dollar and walk away a wealthy man if the RNC had incriminating emails released the "press " would be reporting on the corrupt RNC and how are the Republcans going to ever gain the American people's trust, it would not be about Hillay's illigitmacy as President elect.

All this talk about the media is nonsense. The media is business. The business of business is making a profit. That is all the "media" cares about, profit. They post articles and op-eds that sell. If they did not sell, they would not post them.

Obama seems hell bent on being the CinC of the opposition in Washington for the next eight years. He's not giving signs that, as Bush, he will stay out of the new President's way and let him run the nation without chiming in. The Media always pushes their agenda. The more people they have watching their stations or reading their papers equals more money. Over the years I have seen CNN go from good to absolute horrible.

Trump should give front row seats to the alt news media that were acting as watchdogs for the American people instead of lapdogs pushing White House propaganda.

He should do as Cpl Neely suggested but only long enough to make a point. Although the press started a war with him, I don't think anyone gains if he continues it. He has to swallow his pride and show that he is the adult in the room. The American people can help there simply by not watching the lamestream media. As long as foolish people buy their tabloid propaganda, they will continue putting that garbage out.

The TV shows and programming suck these days and mostly I had Cable TV for the news, but when FOX threw their hat in the ring and went after Trump, and anchors I once respected started pushing for the Establishment GOP candidates, I bought a 60 mile HDTV antenna and dropped Cable TV. I save $60/mo and don't miss it. This is my protest against the Lamestream media. If nobody is watching commercials or paying cable bills, they aren't making money.

All my news comes via the Internet now... and I can read faster than most people speak and don't waste time sitting through stories that don't interest me. Another benefit for TV shows is that you get to watch what you want when you want instead of having to wait for it to come on. Should the Internet go out, I can still get TV from local stations (includes ETV, PBS, Comet, Weather Channel, etc.) plus the Lamestream Network channels etc. but seldom have need of that.

Why bother? The lamestream media is corporately and personally liberal and Democrat. They lack the professionalism to report factual stories without ideological shaping. President Trump should challenge the media every time they demonstrate they are furthering the narrative for the liberal democrats. Watch the ACA repeal/replace debate reporting. It will be less then 2 days before the "Make America Sick Again" theme becomes the lead story line for all the liberal media. Direct communication with the people using the President's "Bully Pulpit" via Twitter and speeches is key to Trump's success.

I doubt it. Trump is very concerned with his image and seems to have very thin skin. He will continue to be compelled to react to anyone that he perceives as slighting him. Since any POTUS will at times face criticism in the press, he will continue to clash with them.

Yes, they can. Will they? That's the real question. I rather doubt the majority of the press corps has a vested interest in seeing Trump as anything other than how they're already portraying him: a usurper who stole the election from their darling Hilllary. The one thing the press now has is Trump to kick around on a regular basis, and they will do so gleefully and willingly. What he manages to do in spite of them will be the true test of his leadership and communications skills. I will submit, though, that he can't Tweet his way through a presidency.

The press can get very bizarre. Some are legitimate such as AP but I am not interested at all in MSNBC at all. I can tolerate BBC, CNN and FOX with a grain of salt.
Kissing the press is like kissing a pig IMHO.

SP5 Mark Kuzinski, Trump doesn't care about the press. He goes straight to the American people via social media. It's up to the press as to any altered behavior.
