Can service members get second jobs to work on the side? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/can-service-members-get-second-jobs-to-work-on-the-side <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Does anyone know if Soldiers are allowed to get second jobs? Ive always heard that they can if it doesnt interfere with duties but I cannot find any regulation that covers it. All I can find is an old FM from 1991. In some cases, there may need to be a memo or documentation from the company allowing the Soldier to have a second job. Of course, this varies from unit to unit. Hope that helps. Some units require notifying the company commander beforehand though. I've seen memos requiring the CO's signature before a Soldier could get a second job. Of course, it varies from unit to unit. Hope this helps. Personally, I don&#39;t have a problem with it as long as it doesn&#39;t affect their current work performance or interferes with duty. I all about taking care of your family. When I was at the Pentagon I worked for a moving company on the side, the owners were prior military, and most of the other employees were current active or reserve members as well, I had a WO from the Army working under me until he got deployed.
