Can RP place a filter so that people can't keep posting the same information? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/can-rp-place-a-filter-so-that-people-can-t-keep-posting-the-same-information

This is more of an admin question for RP. Can we make it so that different people can't post the same articles? I feel like this site is really more about who can be on top of the score board, and thus people post just for the sake of posting. I've seen the same photo or post at least 5 times back to back. It's a bit irritating, and makes me not want to be a member of this community. Perhaps some people don't read the previous posts notice. One issue involves people posting a specific article; a separate issue involves people posing the same question for discussion. If the same article is used to pose unique questions to the board, we'll leave them on the boards. If not, we'll merge them into one discussion (the first one posted). So, the big issue is whether or not the additional posts add something unique. If you see it happening, let one of the member administrators know and we'll assess it. LTC Kevin B. As one of the senior level user admins, I personally work hard at doing this but as I'm sure you can picture it isn't always the easiest. One thing I would recommend is that if you see a repeating topic, feel free to tag one of the user admins (we have little stars by our pictures). You can tag me by typing "@benkeen" and a drop down should appear where you can select me. I'll then receive the notification and take the necessary actions.

There are some updates in the works that will make this a lot easier but until those updates are in place, this is the best advice I can give you. I understand that it's not easy to moderate and monitor all the activity on this site, and that there are a lot of moving parts to figure out. What I figured was that whenever someone starts a discussion it always asks if this question is new, or is it one of the following questions. If the question is the same and is the same post then why are people posting it as new? how hard can it be to place a filter that prevents the same question from being asked twice? I also understand that there are updates and other issues that take time to build and work upon. However, this doesn't excuse the individuals who are posting the same post multiple times just to build influence. It's an issue of integrity and ego.
