Can part time National Guard live in on base housing if they meet certain requirements? If so, what are they and what steps do I take?

It depends on the base and housing availability. For instance, L.A. Air Force Base allows National Guard to stay there at a reduced rate based on rank, but as a reservist you are lower on the priority wait list. I am certain it will be the same at other bases with obvious differences in rates and availability. That being said, the only way to know for sure is to call base housing. Asking such a generic question on here (and without even specifying the base you are talking about) isn't going to get you much information.

As so much housing is now privatized, it depends on what a specific base's contract says. They vary a lot. Generally there is a dibs pecking order and it all goes against availability. Overall, the availability of units is declining because the contractors don't do the maintenance, mold gets in, the unit is now uninhabitable, and it just spirals down from there. Big FlailEx going on in the housing arena over this stuff. ADs can't get housing in a number of locations, hence are tossed into town.

Quiet a few military bases allow civilians to live on post if they meet a certain set of criteria. So you have to check with housing on the base you want to try to live on. They will tell you requirements and if you meet any of them.

You can on Fort Hood. Housing there will take just about everyone, non-military Civilians included to fill the space.
