How did you end up 1,500 miles away from your unit? Were you assigned to it? Did you move away from it? Did the unit get moved to another armory? Also you should definitely consider to IST to the state you currently reside in because living a certain distance still doesn’t excuse fulfilling your military obligation. And most commanders know this, and know that means they have a non-drilling member on their books for 6-12 months.

If you contact a specific gaining unit, and they are willing to accept you, and provide that info, UIC, para/line, and POC info directly to your losing unit and both IST coordinators, and follow up with both IST coordinators and your losing unit every 2 weeks, an IST can be as fast as 6-8 weeks.
If you provide all of that info to your commander and ask to SUTA with that unit until IST is complete, they usually say yes. Get their info and then get them in contact with your home unit. If they have your MOS available and a slot start the transfer process and drill with them for the time being. It might be a long process to transfer from Georgia guard to Texas guard.

What they will basically say if you decide to not go is you chose to move immediately with your spouse to Texas and chose to create a hardship. You would be reimbursed up to $500 for travel expenses and lodging in kind in Georgia wouldn’t you?

If your husband is in Texas I am guessing hood or bliss or fort Sam. All have direct flights from close airports to Georgia. I am sure you can network with someone in your Georgia unit to get a lift to drill from Atlanta until you get transferred or can RST with a Texas unit.
