Can I use MIL-L-46000C LSA on my M2A1s?

Currently at gunnery and I brought clp and lube for the 50cals. From the last armor they marked the LSA “50cals,Mk19”. The crews where having malfunctions and my 1sg is blaming me for using the LSA.I looked in the TM and yes it has a similar type but different NSN wasn’t sure if I was fully in the wrong or if what I’m doing is t as big as a deal then it is. Even tho the crews Solenoids are not in the best shape.

Personally, I wouldn't. Why? Because I've never heard of it, and I would always check with the -10 and Armorer to ensure I am using the proper stuff.

I know the MK's have a completely different lube needed for them so I'd be weary about using anything that can be used for that and the M2. That being said it's been about a decade since I broke down either weapon system so parts and lubricants could have changed. SSgt Timothy Prevost?

Using a lubricant that is not listed in the maintenance manuals will only allow others to blame you and that lubricant for the problem.

I'm a totally gun nut, and I've used all sorts of cleaning products and lubes, but eventually I started looking up the details and testing of said products and you know what.................

When the Military chooses a lube for a weapon system it is evaluating a range of conditions and lubricant requirements for said selection. What might be the BEST product for a specific purpose (lubrication for example) might not be the BEST product in ALL conditions.

It taught me that I should just use what is designated because I don't really know all the reasons why.

In the example I'm referring to, while CLP is not the best all around lube, it doesn't FREEZE!!!!!! So while something is better in once case it can be counter productive in another.

In your case, if you used the designated lube no fingers would be pointed at you, and even thought it might not be the lube what happened now is it stopped the Armorer from looking into other problems and he'll send you back out on the range with the problem still not fixed.
