It also said in the welcome letter that the ACFT at the school house would be a record. My command is trying to tell me that it's commanders discretion if they will accept it. So I need reg that says that is our is not the case.

SGT (Join to see) - You've already been instructed by your welcome letter that you would be required to take one. You already were instructed by your command that it's up to the discretion of the schoolhouse. I'm not really sure what the confusion is.

However, I'll try to address it completely to clear up any that remains.

Your command is correct. It is up to the schoolhouse if they want to accept it or not and most will not unless there is an unusual circumstance involved. AR 350-1 and TRADOC regulation 350-18 haven't been updated yet to reflect the ACFT, so all the language still says APFT.

By TRADOC policy/regulation*, if it is more than 60 days prior to the start of the school, you WILL take a record fitness test. If it is within 60 days, it is not required by regulation. However, the proponent of the course can absolutely require you to take another fitness test upon arrival.

Per AR 350-1, Soldiers attending the following PME schools and courses: SSC, USASMA, Joint Special Operation Forces Senior Enlisted Academy (JSOFSEA), CCC, CGSOC, WOAC, WOILE, WOSSE, NLC, ALC, SLC, MLC, and BLC, will be administered the APFT (for record) as a course requirement. Proponents of functional training courses may require an APFT, as either an entrance or graduation requirement, regardless of their length.

So, if you are going to any of the courses mentioned, you absolutely will take a record ACFT. If the proponent requires one as a course requirement, you absolutely will take a record ACFT. This is regardless if you have a current record ACFT or not.

Now, if what you're referring to is your comment back to SFC (Join to see) below asking if there is anything saying ACFTs can be record for the Reserve Component, then that's in Army Directive 2022-05* which says the diagnostic window for the RC was 1 APR 22 - 31 MAR 23 and that starting 1 APR 23 they will start taking record tests (and will have one prior to 1 APR 24).

SGT (Join to see) - 2 weeks in difference in pay between E4 and E5 is not a lot of money at all.
It will be a lot of money if you spend the next few months fighting your commander on this, and that will be 100% your fault, whether you believe your commander is right or wrong, because you chose to drag it out.

Take the damn test this week, before you're complaining about missing out on 3-4 months of difference in pay.

SGM (Join to see) SGM I'm going from E5 to E6, but I appreciate your input. It's not just money it could be worse for another soldier down the road and that's what I really care about. I'm just looking for information to help educate myself and others. I know when to cut bait and run.

SGT (Join to see) - Sorry, not sure where I got SPC, unless you just updated your profile.
And up until this post, all of your previous replies were only talking about your money and your promotion.
Truth is, TRADOC only recently required all schools to conduct a HT-WT (that cannot be used for record at the unit) and TRADOC even more recently required all schools to conduct a record ACFT
This is very new, and the opposite of the old TRADOC requirement that only PME required a record APFT, and no other school APFT could be used for record.
And like any new change, it takes forever for anyone already in the Army over 8 years to adapt to the change and understand it.
That's where your commander is today, and your commander will be there for a while, or at least longer than you would want to afford.
Get the test out of the way and get back to worrying about mission; I don't have to know what state you are to know you guys are under; we all are.

SGM (Join to see) SGM I did just update it I don't get on here often. They did accept my school acft today so it's all good I don't have to take one. It's not that I'd care to take another acft I got a 577 on the one at school I think I'd be ok lol. I just wanted them to look at the reg and they weren't. That's why I came here just to respectfully ask for assistance and get a better idea of what I was reading. I'm a life long learner and I know I don't know every single word of the regulation.

All orders sate "You are responsible for reporting to your next duty station or school in satisfactory condition, able to pass the ACFT and meet weight standards". They can give you a record ACFT as soon as you arrive to your unit.

I'm more looking for the reg that provides that ACFTs are no longer diagnostic they are for record and that I can use the one I took prior to leaving for school last month or the one I took at the school house for a record
