Can I switch units or to the air guard?

I just joined the national guard and looking into either transferring units or switching the the air guard. Reason for wanting to switch is they haven’t provided lodging nor travel pay and the base is 6hrs from my house is there a way to transfer

It's kind of crazy that you selected a slot that was six hours away. You can definitely switch units to a closer one that has a slot for you in your rank and MOS. You can also reclass into a Will Train slot at a closer location but there may be additional requirements and stipulations associated with that if you've already attended AIT or received a bonus.

There is a program and funding for your travel thst others on here explain.

Switching branches would require you to separate from your current branch and then apply to another.

In order to switch, your current unit would have to release you. Since you just joined, your unit is not likely to release you to go to another unit. My question is: why did you join a guard unit that is 6 hours from your HOR?
