Not certain what DV means, but if it is domestic violence, you should have been separated, on top of that three years later a DUI? You are lucky that your chain of command did not separate you for patterns of misconduct. Next, you must be the model NCO that you are expected to be. You must work your tail off to ensure your NCOER Senior Rater comments are strong enough for the board to select you. You must be volunteering for the hard tasks, earn an AA, Bachelor's, or Master's degree, get all the additional duties you can. If you have a domestic violence case in your records, the board will be able to see it no matter what.Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 28 at 2020 12:49 AM2020-08-28T00:49:12-04:002020-08-28T00:49:12-04:00MSG Private RallyPoint Member6252873<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Your chances of being promoted are pretty slim. I've seen guys as 18 year SSGs that have zero disciplinary issues not be selected. If it's between you and someone withoit a history you know who thet are going to pick, especially in such a small CMF. Your chances are better than they were because QMP boards are no longer a thing with the new centralized promotion system.Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 28 at 2020 1:08 AM2020-08-28T01:08:13-04:002020-08-28T01:08:13-04:00CW4 Craig Urban6252949<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I seriously think you will retire as a SSGResponse by CW4 Craig Urban made Aug 28 at 2020 2:30 AM2020-08-28T02:30:05-04:002020-08-28T02:30:05-04:00MSG Private RallyPoint Member6253414<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Send me your email and I will forward you a few things that I believe will help you out.Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 28 at 2020 8:25 AM2020-08-28T08:25:32-04:002020-08-28T08:25:32-04:00MSgt Neil Greenfield6253458<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Apply for the WO program.Response by MSgt Neil Greenfield made Aug 28 at 2020 8:41 AM2020-08-28T08:41:02-04:002020-08-28T08:41:02-04:00MSG Private RallyPoint Member6253599<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Yes, it is still possible. I knew an Officer that received a GOMOR as either a SGT or SSG (I can't rightly remember). He was selected and promoted to SFC then he ended up getting a Commission. It's possible. Just gonna take same leg work.Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 28 at 2020 9:40 AM2020-08-28T09:40:56-04:002020-08-28T09:40:56-04:00SGM Private RallyPoint Member6253898<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Here are some thoughts. DA Centralized boards (panel members) 'Must' view restricted files. Any negative items in your file must be viewed prior to voting the record. Having said that, the process it to take the total Soldier into account. If you are qualified to continue and your career field needs you to be promoted, you will be. The next time your records are voted you will be able to go to Army Career Tracker and see where you are with relation to your peers. If you are 499 of 500, you might want to prepare to retire as a SSG. On the other hand, if you are in the top third you may consider continuing your service. If you are otherwise a good Soldier (high PT, good education, well enumerated on NCOERs etc.) and I was voting your file I would ding you for the GOMAR and the Article 15, but not so much as to put you below the line (everyone makes mistakes and this is not a zero defect Army). If you are going to continue, I suggest you work on being the best Soldier / leader you can be. Work on your education, your Soldiers and your mission. You want the voting members of the panel to see your file and be Shocked that You ever had an issue and see it / them as an anomaly from the distant past. Also, keep it together. You can't afford anymore negative paperwork. Good luck to you.Response by SGM Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 28 at 2020 11:27 AM2020-08-28T11:27:15-04:002020-08-28T11:27:15-04:00SFC Kelly Fuerhoff6254807<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>DV - as in domestic violence?
