Can I sign out early on PCS leave?

I PCS January 2nd and I already have cleared post because of the holidays falling in the middle of the week. Do I have to stay here until then or can I sign out after the “duty day” of New Years? I really don’t want to hang around in an empty house.

You need to sign out on the day it says on your approved DA31. I understand the common sense aspect of your question. I'd recommend engaging your chain of command to see if you can sign out early and have the appropriate call to staff duty holding your DA31.

SFC Private RallyPoint Member if it’s a duty day and you don’t have leave, you must stay. Have you considered asking your unit?

I agree with the others. Duty status includes time and location. I assume you did not get Permissive TDY. One of your enemies to changing status is the holiday season.

Negative. Regs doesn't allow for that. Passes, yes. Just not Leave. The earliest allowed is 0001 hours the day your Leave is to start. I agree with the recommendation from LTC Jason Mackay

Yep, i agree with the others. You may not sign out early. No such animal. However, maybe this is a lesson on the planning of leaves for you in the future. Always have to take into account the holiday work schedule when taking leave during this time. The old saying definitely applies here, "piss poor planning on your part, does not make it an emergency for the Army."

It depends on your battalion and company policies. Will they let you sign out by phone? If you have to physically sign out, then you are required to be present. If it were me, I would talk to Staff Duty and work something out.

What ever date you have on your DA31 is when you sign out..... no brainer....
