SPC Private RallyPoint Member4418811

Shortly before I enlisted I found a new job and a few days later I enlisted in the Army National Guard. I requested to be shipped in June but the NG Liaison at MEPS told me I had to be shippe within 90 days or I would have to start the process all over again. So I reluctantly accepted and swore in. But I found out that I can be in DEP for up to 1 year. I have two young kids and my lease is coming up in June, I do not want to leave my family like that looking for a place to live and I also wanted to be eatablished in my job. I want to live my family safe and financially secured. In light of the Liaison not beinv truthful, can I let my Recruiter know that I want to be shipped in June. I still want to be shipped but I am not a child, I do not appreciate someone who I suppose to trust lying to me. What should I do.Can I postpone my shipdate from April 22 to end of June?2019-03-04T08:03:58-05:00SPC Private RallyPoint Member4418811

Shortly before I enlisted I found a new job and a few days later I enlisted in the Army National Guard. Unfortunately when a training slot comes open they have to put you in that available slot. The NG is a creature different from active and reserve. Best of luck to youResponse by PVT Mark Zehner made Mar 4 at 2019 8:25 AM2019-03-04T08:25:15-05:002019-03-04T08:25:15-05:00LTC Eugene Chu4418874

You can ask recruiter like the other post mentioned, but odds are against it. Most basic training units are filled to capacity during summer. High school and college graduates often attend right after completing academics.Response by LTC Eugene Chu made Mar 4 at 2019 8:29 AM2019-03-04T08:29:50-05:002019-03-04T08:29:50-05:00SGM Private RallyPoint Member4419006

No one lied to you, or treated you like a child. They treated you like an adult that presumably read and understood the contract you were signing.
Your contract sounds like a "quick-ship", because "less than 90 days" means you would forego most of the RSP that Guard recruits go through for 4-6 months.
Your employer cannot fire you for going to training, your lease can be renewed for another year or renewed for month-to-month, or your lease can be broken early so you can move now, because you have military orders.
If you want to change your ship date, you will have to go through the process again (except for the medical screening at MEPS), because you need a new contract.Response by SGM Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 4 at 2019 9:10 AM2019-03-04T09:10:45-05:002019-03-04T09:10:45-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member4419115

The liason didn't lie to you, you even said it yourself - if you left at a later date you'd have to start the process over again.
Class seats are a finite resource. Just because there is a seat for your MOS leaving on one day, does not mean you can show up several months later, or that there will be an available class date any time later.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 4 at 2019 10:04 AM2019-03-04T10:04:13-05:002019-03-04T10:04:13-05:00SGT Eric Davis4419142

Who lied to you? No one!!

You could of waited to enlist but you could of waited to enlist but you chose to and they told you that you had to be shipped within 90 days cause if your school. Basic classes go all year round but you job may have a certain amount of slots. Is it important for you to join the military?

You Job will be there when you get back so saying established at your job is irrelevant. You need to wait to you come back to get established! You already have your foot in the door and another job so don’t blow it!!

Also you why you not looking for a new place to live now instead of waiting!!Response by SGT Eric Davis made Mar 4 at 2019 10:16 AM2019-03-04T10:16:34-05:002019-03-04T10:16:34-05:002019-03-04T08:03:58-05:00
