Can I go Green to Gold in Germany?

COL PRU-OWENS approached me about the green to gold program, and I would most definitely be interested, but I'm PCSing to Germany in March 2016. I reenlisted for it. Can I do that in Germany or just go to school and pursue it once I get back stateside in 3 years?

I think you can through the University of Maryland, which ran the University Extension in Germany when I was over there many years ago. A career and retention NCO or Officer should be able to answer this.

If you are serious about GTG, contact your branch manager to get those orders cancelled so you can do the GTG program if your reenlisted for it. Germany can wait.

Last I knew about GTG, you were "released" (you are still in, but all you do is go to school) from the Army to attend the college that accepts you and you go thru there ROTC program. But then, that was a few years ago

I work in the USASD we are the admin and finance for active duty green to gold once soldiers are in the program. I would recommend you email [login to see]

My spider senses are telling me that it may not be possible to do GTG from Germany (but definitely verify whether or not that's the case). The big issue appears to be that you'll be required to enroll in an ROTC program during your time in school. While you can attend classes while over in Germany through a number of schools, I'm not aware of any Army ROTC over in Germany. If that's indeed the case, your best bets might be to either try to get into the GTG program now (and try to get both sets of orders changed) or pursue it once you get back stateside.
