I prepared myself better however, I received another No-Go. My leadership is telling me that I have to go again and if I fail I will be barred, and possible separated. Can I get Barred to reenlistment and/or face separation by failing the promotion board more than once?2020-04-24T18:59:28-04:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member5812977

I was sent to the promotion board with having little knowledge, I received a No-Go. Maybe it depends on your unit ? I think being barred is a little extreme. A buddy of mine took it 3 times before getting his P status.Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 24 at 2020 7:46 PM2020-04-24T19:46:30-04:002020-04-24T19:46:30-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member5813074

A bar to reenlistment is not a bar to continued service. Usually you dont do back to back promotion boards, theres some development time in betweenResponse by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 24 at 2020 7:47 PM2020-04-24T19:47:49-04:002020-04-24T19:47:49-04:00SSG Dale London5813387

Unless things have drastically changed since I got out, they cannot bar you for failing at the board. They can, however, discharge you if you're at the retention control point for your grade. If I remember correctly, the RCP for E-4 is 8 years, and 10 years for a promotable E-4.
How long have you been in?Response by SSG Dale London made Apr 24 at 2020 9:28 PM2020-04-24T21:28:02-04:002020-04-24T21:28:02-04:00SGM Bill Frazer5813630

If they want to- cause you are showing then you are not leadership material.Response by SGM Bill Frazer made Apr 24 at 2020 11:15 PM2020-04-24T23:15:25-04:002020-04-24T23:15:25-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member5813655

So check it out,
Any board I’ve been to, the board gives you an AAR and your sponser should too.

Take that shit to heart, take notes and work on that. Know your self and seek self improvement right?

So the CO can bar you from pretty much anything from my understanding. So depends on your CoC.

After being in for a while, if you’re not moving up you’re moving out but that’s normally years before guys but their RCP.

Ask your 1st line or sponser what you can work on, get prep boards, study,Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 24 at 2020 11:37 PM2020-04-24T23:37:29-04:002020-04-24T23:37:29-04:00SGM Erik Marquez5814247

Company commanders initiate a bar to reenlistment.
The Need for justification is basic for a commander to justify a bar to reenlistment.

Ideally of course it’s based on a soldiers behavior or actions documented etc. but honestly it could also be because it’s Thursday and that’s what the commander wanted to do

So yes a commander could bother you to reenlistment based on substandard performance at the promotion board

The bar would likely not be justified by saying failed promotion board it would simply be substandard performance in assigned duties or something like thatResponse by SGM Erik Marquez made Apr 25 at 2020 7:39 AM2020-04-25T07:39:21-04:002020-04-25T07:39:21-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member5814584

Keep trying and read the AAR and develop yourself take this time to study, and understand the questions asked.
