Dominic "Pitbull" LaDelgo3650087

In a year or two when I enlist, I was wondering if there was an enlistment option to go to RASP after I get done with BCT. I heard it was possible, but I would just like someone to confirm it for me. If it's possible, would the Army instantly sign me up for BAC and RASP after I pass Basic Combat Training? Thanks. Can I enlist as a Ranger?2018-05-22T04:02:21-04:00Dominic "Pitbull" LaDelgo3650087

In a year or two when I enlist, I was wondering if there was an enlistment option to go to RASP after I get done with BCT. Enlisting with an Option 40 contract is the only GUARANTEED way to go to RASP after basic training and Airborne.
Also, I can’t speak for non infantry mos, but it’s not uncommon for a regimental recruiter to stop by a basic training (at Ft Benning) or Airborne school to meet with Option 40 trainees in order to fill them in on what’s to come, and also to “give out” RASP slots.
TLDR
Yes you can enlist with an option40 contract. It’s also not impossible to go to airborne and rasp after bct. A lot of it depends on luck (right place right time) and the recruiter.Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made May 22 at 2018 6:47 AM2018-05-22T06:47:10-04:002018-05-22T06:47:10-04:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member3650312

Option 40 is the only GUARANTEED way to go to RASP after basic training and Airborne. For other MOSes, I think you complete BCT and AIT before Airborne, but I'm not sure.Response by SPC Elijah J. Do it! It's actually your best shot at being a ranger.
Ranger eligible MOS's have liaisons at their AIT installations so if you don't get option 40 make sure you sign up for a ranger eligible MOS so you can drop a ranger packet during AIT.

You can work your way into the regiment mid contract, but this option on is where the pickings get slim and your chances are getting tough.

Then you can always commission as an infantry officer then once you make 1lt you can be a ranger officer but now I'm just giving options for the sake of hearing my own voice. Top two options I listed are your best betResponse by LTJG Private RallyPoint Member made May 22 at 2018 2:42 PM2018-05-22T14:42:26-04:002018-05-22T14:42:26-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member3653141

Yes you can. You can go from BCT to airborne school to Pre-RASP. Just remember do NOT do anything that you aren't told you can't do when you get there. Example finish Airborne school report to RASP on Friday and Pre-RASP stars Monday and you take off for the weekend and you weren't told you can't do that. Fail to follow instructions right from the get go will give you a black eye and possibly not allow you to pass and make to Regiment.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made May 23 at 2018 3:31 AM2018-05-23T03:31:55-04:002018-05-23T03:31:55-04:002018-05-22T04:02:21-04:00
