PFC Aarion Ojeda 1817707

So, I sprained my ankle about two weeks ago and was put on a 2-week profile, and I was a couple days away from being on profile, and I have a PT test coming up at the soonest possible date they can test me which was like a week after coming off profile, and I was feeling fine and no longer in any pain at all, and the afternoon PT was basketball or weight lifting. It was up to us which one we went and did. Basketball is fun cardio, so I chose basketball. I ended up injuring my ankle, although higher up this time than my original injury, and now my ankle is completely purple and swollen, much worse than the first time. I am currently flagged for failing the run and this next PT test is my last chance, and before the injury I wasn't even worried about it, but now I have this going on, and my leadership told me if I go to sick call and get an extended profile, that they will chapter me for breaking profile by playing basketball, even though it doesn't specifically state no basketball. So my options so far look like I either go to sick call and get X-Rays and another profile, or I suck it up and risk failing due to the injury. Can I be chaptered for breaking a profile and reinjuring myself? 2016-08-18T17:57:50-04:00 PFC Aarion Ojeda 1817707

But, perhaps, your command sees potential in you and simply gives you NJP, short of the boot. You cannot be tested on a temporary profile unless it specifically has all boxes checked yes, under the APFT section, if it does not, you cannot be tested at all, under any circumstance without specific consent from your doctor.

As for the chaptering, they can chapter you for consecutively failed PT tests, however, if they test you while you are on that profile or if they test you when you go to get a new one, or if they test you while on recovery then they are in direct violation of a number of medical regulations and most importantly, is an egregious IG complaint.

You also cannot be chaptered for simply being on a profile. Or for receiving a profile. Now you mentioned re-injuring your ankle as the cause for breaking your profile, now without having access to your profile I can't speak intelligently as to what it says, but I would be generally surprised if you broke it.

Just because an activity re-injures your body in an area you had a profile for, doesn't automatically mean you broke your profile. Ultimately, that's a decision for your PCM. If your commander has a problem with it, tell him to talk to the CO of your hospital, because that is essentially who he is challenging. I have a feeling it wouldn't get much farther than that. You sound sure of that if you don't do this so if you can tape it up tight half way up to your calf right before you run then like 15 min before wrap an ace bandage over the tape as tight as you can take it . once you start to run it will be oqward but it will loosen up where you can do your run with minimal pain that's what I'd do as soon as you can after ice good for 20 on 30 off for the rest of the day good luck Response by PO3 Steven Adams made Aug 24 at 2016 5:08 AM 2016-08-24T05:08:24-04:00 2016-08-24T05:08:24-04:00 SSG Private RallyPoint Member 4736670

Does it state no running or jumping?
