We had a prior SVC Marine with us.. I think it was a matter of break in service time. I transitioned over from the Marines and that, along with all of my leadership courses (CPL and SGT's Courses) counted. If you have a break in service for a longer period of time, that may come into play. Contact a recruiter, they'll have better information. I just finished my 11B OSUT about 3 weeks ago and we had 2 prior service Marines in my platoon. One was Ordnance and the other was a Combat Engineer who spent 5 and 6 years in the Corps respectively. The Army let them keep their ranks (E-5) and integrated them fully into our platoon as 18X Candidates (Special Forces Soldiers have to be Infantry qualified, it’s part of the pipeline.)So if you go Army not only will you get the training to re-class your MOS you should also get to keep your rank/pay grade that you had in the Corps.
