We had a prior SVC Marine with us.. I think it was a matter of break in service time.Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 10 at 2018 11:32 AM2018-09-10T11:32:27-04:002018-09-10T11:32:27-04:00CW3 Michael Bodnar3952216<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>As a prior service Marine, you do not have to go back through any other services basic training. I transitioned over from the Marines and that, along with all of my leadership courses (CPL and SGT's Courses) counted. If you have a break in service for a longer period of time, that may come into play. Contact a recruiter, they'll have better information.Response by CW3 Michael Bodnar made Sep 10 at 2018 11:44 AM2018-09-10T11:44:55-04:002018-09-10T11:44:55-04:00Cadet CPL Private RallyPoint Member3952286<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Yes you can CPL. I just finished my 11B OSUT about 3 weeks ago and we had 2 prior service Marines in my platoon. One was Ordnance and the other was a Combat Engineer who spent 5 and 6 years in the Corps respectively. The Army let them keep their ranks (E-5) and integrated them fully into our platoon as 18X Candidates (Special Forces Soldiers have to be Infantry qualified, it’s part of the pipeline.)So if you go Army not only will you get the training to re-class your MOS you should also get to keep your rank/pay grade that you had in the Corps.Response by Cadet CPL Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 10 at 2018 12:13 PM2018-09-10T12:13:32-04:002018-09-10T12:13:32-04:00Cpl James O'Rawe3952639<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I know that when I got out of the Marines in 91 as an 0311.
