Can I apply to National Guard positions on USAJobs if I'm in the Army Reserve?

I would. Monday thru Friday, weekends, play army. You may have to make a phone all to see if there are conflicting interest

If it is a military technician job announcement, the job title should indicate if its for ANG/ARNG members only or under the heading of "Technician Vacancy Announcement " should state "National Guard Membership IS Required". You may see also in the announcement:
"This job announcement is for employment as an Insert State Here Army National Guard Technician; a Federal/ Excepted Civil Service position. This is a dual-status technician job whereby you are required to maintain active membership in a National Guard unit/wing and are required to wear the military uniform at the workplace."

Feel free to apply however you may have to switch components, It's a great opportunity in my opinion.

I don't know much about the Reserve side of the house, but it's not a problem in the Guard. I'm a Dual Status Technician, meaning that I'm a DA Civilian during the week making GS pay, and still a traditional M-Day Soldier on drill weekends. My MOS has to be compatible with my tech job, but that's not too difficult. I am in two entirely different units with separate UICs.

These guys have pretty much got it, but I'll throw my comment in.
You would have to look at the job posting and see what it says. Almost all AGR jobs are attached to a position in the Company that you work for. A Dual Status Technician position tequires membership in the Guard of the listed state (every one I've ever seen), but a Non-Dual Status Technician does not require military membership at all. Some jobs are State positions (Military Authority or listed as a state job) and are also open to civilians. It really depends on what the listing says. It normally tells on the first or second page, but may direct you toward the end for descriptions of the qualifications. I love being in the Guard, but have never been in the Reserve, so I wouldn't put switching completely out of your mind. Just talk to a local Guard recruiter and get your answers about how it affects your benefits and opportunities.

You can apply for any civilian job if you meet the qualifications. If accepted and the job requires membership in the Guard, you would have to get a release from the Reserve. I have transferred between Army Reserve and National Guard several times.

You're also going to want to check that the job is actually open to your area.

Usually, USAJobs postings for dual-status technicians will show areas of consideration. For example:

1. On -board technicians (lateral transfers)
2. M-Day Soldiers looking to become FT
3. Everyone else

Not all jobs allow for new people to come on.

Read the requirements for the job on USAJOBS. Most of them include people who are eligible to serve in the National Guard. The upshot is you could apply, but you would have to become a memes of the NG before you could start the job. We have people do it all the time, usually transferring between states, but the same rule would apply to an AR soldier.

Read The job description closely They normally spell out just who can and cannot apply for the job and what they want you to be able to do! And SSG Todd is right they normally want you to join that unit! Good luck!

I was told that if the job is say WG-10 and those are generally National guard and same with Reserve jobs. But I have seen exceptions to policy. I was Guard who transitioned to reserve and I was told to come back to work my WG job so, anything is possible.

You can but many require that you also join the Guard/Reserve. If you're currently active and looking to go reserve component, then it may fit you.

If you are trying to obtain a technician position that would require you to be in the Guard. If you are in the right field you can move up in rank. However, there are also AGR positions as well. If you get in the right field you could become a Warrant Officer.

National Guard positions are title 32 which means that you must be a member of the NG. Army Reserve are title 10, meaning you must be a member of the reserves. if I was you I would look for a DAC (Department of the Army Civilian) position.
