PTSD is hard for the VA to prove or disprove. If the vet is changing his story on a regular basis, I would think that some kind of investigation could be looked into for validity of the claim. They are the ones the system relies on to sort out the real from the fraud. Otherwise, why have med boards at all? So to me, those doctors are as guilty of benefit fraud as the servicemember. If they truly believe, in their professional medical opinion, that this guy does not have PTSD, yet signed off on it anyway, that&#39;s fraud. <br /><br />OTOH, if it is their medical opinion that the guy may well have it, but they aren&#39;t sure, then I have no problem with them either saying more testing is needed, or giving the benefit of the doubt to the veteran. I&#39;d rather have a doctor who isn&#39;t sure err on the side of the vet. But if they really are committing fraud as you say, you should be reporting them and getting them disciplined. If you have a CAB, CIB, Purple Heart, a V device (Valor) medal, deployed to a combat theater or some traumatic event. At first they can remember nothing, but as time progresses their stories can change because of memories that were &quot;locked&quot; within their mind were able to be remembered again. With this person changing their story, it could be something similiar to this.<br /><br />I would re-investigate, have proper documentation have the person be re-evaluated based on medical and psychological aspects to prove his PTSD condition. Obviously they had a mental problem (the faker) and PTSD isn&#39;t a blood test- it&#39;s a mind thing. They tell me I have PTSD just from seeing my buddy negligent discharge a 45 into his head. Maybe I do maybe I don&#39;t. I know vets that do and if one is willingly playing that card for sympathy or money then they take away from those who actually suffer.
