Can an OCS packet be turned in from my home unit to a State offering the Accelerated Program, or do I have to request OCS through my State?

When attending an OCS brief for the National Guard, I asked the presenter about the Accelerated OCS program. The presenter states that they do not send people period. I asked what changed that. The reply I received was “We would send people and they would fail. So we just stopped sending people all together.” I see that as a sorry and unfair excuse. Why should someone else’s failures dictate my military opportunities and career? My question is “Can a packet be turned in to the state that offers the Accelerated Program from my home unit, or do I have no choice but to request (and get denied) the program through my State OCS?

At the end of the day your State NG have to both approve your packet and pay for the school. Therefore, if you already know your State’s posture don’t try to circumvent the system. You might ended up with unsolicited attention.

You can submit through whatever state you've joined the NG of.
Why they don't send people is neither fair or a sorry excuse. No organization would continue to fund failure, and "fair" has nothing to do with the Army.

A LTC of my acquaintance was a school teacher and would go to ‘military schools’ in the summer when he was not teaching. When he weighed in at one school, he was overweight, RTU and his career in the Guard was terminated! When you embarrass your organization, it will pay you back!
