Can a Soldier who is in the MEB process be put in for an award?

If the soldier is not FLAGGED then Yes.

Yes. As long as the Soldier is not flagged or otherwise ineligible for Favorable Personnel Actions. Your references for this are AR 600-8-2 and AR 600-8-22.

SSG Private RallyPoint Member caveat to SSG(P) Private RallyPoint Member idf the Soldier is flagged, the award can be processed if it is for valor and heroism. So ARCOM = No Go. ARCOM w/V = Go.

The only time I saw people have issues is when the award came from achievements during the MEB. It is definitely hard to be seen as award worthy when going through that process (I also did a MEB). If it is from prior accomplishments and apparently in line with the Army Regulations others have stated . . . I think that soldier is fine.

In the Army, as long as the Solder is not flagged. They can be put in for the award. Other services for example the Marines have stricter award requirements.

Anyone can put anyone if for an award...will they get it? Do they deserve it?

Yes, the MEB board is for injury but then it does matter if the injury was self inflected. I was removed of the C-10 roster for failing to take the APFT test because of surgery for a plate and bone graff being placed in my neck. Just another chapter for the Toxic Leadership Book.
