Can a soldier's wife be banned from coming on post?

Ok so this wife has lied to our BC in different occasions for different reasons, she has created drama, rumors and conflict in the unit with spouses and soldiers and today she was harboring an ex-soldier who was missing for over a week.

Yes, dependents can be banned from base. It's fairly common. Especially if it involves misconduct or criminal activity on the dependents part.

yes that can be based. They can even be removed from a state. Back in the 70s we had one such case at Ft Lewis WA. The wife was even escorted by MPs to the airport and the flight...

Yes they can it fact when I was in Hawaii the garrison actually had received several complaints about a wife and her two children ranging from breaking into a home, damaging property, and the kicker was when the wife was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and the command did an early return of dependent.

Absolutely, access to the base/post is a privilege, not a right. If someone abuses that privilege, it can be taken away. I am sure there will be caveats, like does the couple have children that need access to post medical facilities and the like, but Deers can issue ID cards that restrict post amenities.

Probably, yes. If the civilian commits a crime on a military installation or otherwise interferes with the mission, my guess is the installation commander can bar them from entry. The act or series of actions would probably need to be well documented and investigated with the JAG reviewing the recommendation before the Commander would issue a letter to the civilian notifying them that they are bared from entering the installation.

Short answer; Yes.
I have seen a couple occasions where dependents have been barred from post. Not an easy task but it can and has been done.

Reading into the question a bit, but how is that a spouse is harboring an AWOL Soldier and the husband accepted this?
If he did not report it, he's in a heap of trouble.
If he didn't know, hopefully he's smart enough to soon be single.

It doesn't happen often however, it can happen! So there we were, in beautiful sunny Fort Polk. The 1SG's wife gets a DUI on post, becomes Nasty Nelly of the neighborhood and then gets busted for selling the Commanding Generel's son a bag of dope at his birthday party. She was barred from re-entry and was not aloud on post! So, it does happen and when it does it is typically for good reason (the good order and discipline of the unit/post).

Had a guy in one of my teams who was invited to leave on-base housing due to his (soon to be ex-) wife's behavior... she was banned from the base.

Yes. I got a wife accusing my Soldier of adulterous relationship with her husband. I issued a no contact order. The wife kept on telling me and 1SG what to do, ban her from post will be next step.

If the military wanted you to have a spouse, you would have been issued one.. Yes, dependents can be banned from an installation based on behavior and other factors. One other thing should be noted; dependents can ruin a service member's career based on their actions..

Yes. Installation Commander has that authority to ban certain individuals, even dependents, from the post to preserve good order and discipline.

In overseas assignments, they can withdraw command sponsorship and give them an EROD- Early Return Of Dependents. Escorted to the APOD by MPs and essentially deported.

My husband went AWOL for three years after his tour of Bosnia. He turned hisself in, was barely punished and deployed with his unit shortly after. Why you ask? Because my husband was a trained CAV scout sniper, a badass. He's now medically retired after losing his leg on his second tour of Iraq. Now he's 100% VA with CRSC.

Yes of course she should be. Her ID Card should also be confiscated. Uncle Sam never issued you a wife, it is the responsibility of every individual soldier to control their dependence. If you can not you do not need to have them.

Anyone can essentially be banned from an installation (obviously not currently serving military.) I'd say only that last reason would be a possible reason to. If someone is becoming a constant nuisance (more than just spouse drama) and constantly disrupting good order and discipline on the installation then it's a logical reason for them to be banned. Ultimately legal and I'd say probably the GC would be the ultimate decision maker on banning someone.

So the wife’s hubby I would think would be in equal trouble for sheltering an awol soldier. Harboring a fugitive is a felony in the civilian world, if the UCMJ looks at it like that he could be out , dishonorable, loss of benefits, fine or jail. Maybe he needs to find a new wife, life’s too short to deal with that crap, send her ass back to mommy.

It happens all the time. I’ve seen several spouses banned from base. It usually involves criminal activities.
