SGT Private RallyPoint Member3320895<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I have a soldier requesting leave for a period of time that they are the only soldier scheduled to work that specific shift. It is necessary to have a soldier working this shift per local SOP. Do I assign another soldier to work that shift or tell the soldier that they need to find someone willing to cover down before I send up the leave packet? I've asked my first line and they said that either one would work but I know there has to be a right answer. Can a soldier request leave if they are the only soldier assigned to a shift?2018-02-03T20:12:40-05:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member3320895<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I have a soldier requesting leave for a period of time that they are the only soldier scheduled to work that specific shift. Assigning a different soldier to complete the duty during that time should not be a big deal.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 3 at 2018 8:24 PM2018-02-03T20:24:11-05:002018-02-03T20:24:11-05:001SG Private RallyPoint Member3321276<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>you should have a chain of command and it should be their duty to ensure you are able to take leave. I mean, I know for a fact that you have a rating scheme. Start there for answers.Response by 1SG Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 3 at 2018 11:00 PM2018-02-03T23:00:43-05:002018-02-03T23:00:43-05:00Maj John Bell3321375<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>They can always request leave. The command can always deny leave, but they better have really , really good justification. "Nobody else can take his place", is not good justification.Response by Maj John Bell made Feb 3 at 2018 11:56 PM2018-02-03T23:56:40-05:002018-02-03T23:56:40-05:002018-02-03T20:12:40-05:00
