If the unit that deactivated was going to give you an award for your service and efforts they would have done so prior to deactivation. Best of luck going forward.Response by CW3 Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 12 at 2015 10:58 AM2015-07-12T10:58:49-04:002015-07-12T10:58:49-04:00CW4 Private RallyPoint Member809217<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The PCS award should of been a culmination of your efforts during the entire time at that duty location minus any accomplishments that you already received impact wards for during that time.Response by CW4 Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 12 at 2015 11:28 AM2015-07-12T11:28:29-04:002015-07-12T11:28:29-04:00CW4 Private RallyPoint Member809222<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>This happened to me at my last duty station down at Fort Eustis. I was the BMO for 24th Trans and that Battalion deactivated and then I became the BMO for 53rd Trans and when I PCS'd, my 638 had bullets from both Battalions.Response by CW4 Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 12 at 2015 11:30 AM2015-07-12T11:30:53-04:002015-07-12T11:30:53-04:00SPC Private RallyPoint Member815072<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Thanks for the comments but I did find out today that it is requirement for PCS once it is not the same brigade.Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 14 at 2015 7:55 PM2015-07-14T19:55:43-04:002015-07-14T19:55:43-04:001stSgt Private RallyPoint Member870628<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>In the Marine Corps, if your leadership was on its game, you would receive a letter of continuity. This would explain to the new commander that you could jump whole buildings in a single bound. Multiple awards, unless for valor under fire, is asking a little too much, IMHO and leads to the dilution of certain medals.Response by 1stSgt Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 6 at 2015 6:56 PM2015-08-06T18:56:19-04:002015-08-06T18:56:19-04:00SSgt GG-15 RET Jim Lint1520866<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I thought you got awards for doing your job? You get an award for the merit of your accomplishments? If you did something after the other unit deactivated, you get an award, if you did not...no award.<br />I was in both the USMC for 7 years, and the Army for 14. Someone is going to have the explain PCS awards for Marines. Many will think it is what the PCS clerk deserves. I left the USMC with 3 years in the INF and 4 years in CI. I moved around and did two Med floats. I received my highest or hardest award during my USMC time. My second Good Conduct Award. I also had a Sea Service Ribbon. Then in the Army on my first day, I had to get a 4 ribbon bar... they gave me a ribbon for joining the Army. (I guess I earned it for the paperwork the recruiter and I filled out?) Plus I got a ribbon for attending USMC SNCO Academy extension course - The NCODP ribbon. I really looked like a hero and my wife, at that time, a former Marine, was really impressed. :) The award program is out of control. It puts stress on leaders, and I did not earn most of my awards. We kill efficiency, create additional admin jobs, and destroyed the awards program. I saw the picture of a SGTMAJ of the Marine Corps in the 1990s. He had ONE MSM. In the 14 years in the Army, I received FIVE MSMs. I am quite sure that Marine SGTMAJ was more impressive than me!!Response by SSgt GG-15 RET Jim Lint made May 11 at 2016 7:12 PM2016-05-11T19:12:55-04:002016-05-11T19:12:55-04:002015-07-12T10:57:18-04:00
