Can a disapproved psych waiver be appealed ?

Hi there, my husband was disqualified from joining the army after having a psych evaluation. He passed his medical and physical exam and scored a decent score on his asvab. Military is all he has ever wanted to do but was on hold so I could go to nursing school. His recruiter stated he was disqualified because the counselor noted he did not show any feelings and was not remorseful. - My husband has a history of speeding tickets from 08-‘10. The tickets were waived, we were never told exactly that that was the reason for the eval but besides that there was no other reason we could think of. My question is can we appeal or fight this. My husband cried when he received the news, how is that possible from a man who has no feeelings. Honestly it doesn’t even make sense how someone can assume that. Can he meet with a different psychologist. I asked his recruiter and he said it was a permanent decision and he couldn’t do anything else. Anything helps thank you.

I feel for him, i rarely show emotions, my wife who is a nurse as well says i have "flat affect" which can be a red flag to medical types. But that doesn't mean I dont have feelings, just that others dont percieve them, those who know me well can read me, but i guess you have to know me well first.

He needs to get several "second" opinions before he goes in for that fight, because without them he has no ammo on his side. That being said, the only people who know what went on to warrant that perception are him and the psych doc. If they are used by the recruiters, then it's not likely they're in the business of denying people just for shits and giggles, and the doc would have to feel pretty strongly in order to make that claim. Get the opinions and talk to the recruiters again, bur he also needs to realize that the military is not for everyone, and no matter how badly they want it, some people just aren't what the services are looking for.

I am a recruiter. Unfortunately if his documentation says certain things like that then that's what's used to verify. Unless of course he shows a history of progression towards getting better and essentially gets "cleared" lack of better terms.

Ask a navy recruiter. They have the most lax ornflexible standards. They might give some pointers as to what to expect to go through as well.
