I’ve submitted my DA31 for transition leave and the commander denied it due to that I’ll be on the books for “forever”. I am now being forced to take holiday block leave in order to cut down on my terminal leave. Can I be forced to take leave if I don’t have any use or lose? Can a commander force you to take leave?2018-11-06T20:23:24-05:00CPL Private RallyPoint Member4106409<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am ETSing in March of 2019 and I’ll have 45 days accrued for transition leave. The intent for most Soldiers approaching their ETS date is to accumulate a good cushion of leave to aid in job hunting, transitioning to the civilian sector, and so on. My advice, if the situation is accurate, would be to request an audience with your next senior commander and/or IG to clear up the discrepancy.Response by MAJ Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 6 at 2018 8:37 PM2018-11-06T20:37:08-05:002018-11-06T20:37:08-05:00SSG Robert Perrotto4107659<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>if what you are saying is accurate, and the only reason is his concern regarding the AAA 162, then I would request an audience with the next higher lvl, Commanders open door policy is something created for situations just like this. Because the bottom line is, you are going to be on the books until your ETS date regardless, and being short 1 E-4 for 45 days is not going to make his company non mission capable.Response by SSG Robert Perrotto made Nov 7 at 2018 11:39 AM2018-11-07T11:39:23-05:002018-11-07T11:39:23-05:00SGM Private RallyPoint Member4111753<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Take that BS to the next higher commander. How absolutely ridiculous; 45 days isn’t even that much terminal leave.Response by SGM Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 8 at 2018 9:11 PM2018-11-08T21:11:27-05:002018-11-08T21:11:27-05:002018-11-06T20:23:24-05:00
