It is clear to me that every effort was made to account for the woman's health in the instance of Rape, Incest, and Life or Death of the Mother. However, this was still not enough to save this bill. Until the day the child is born it is still unborn. This bill makes no exception for birth defects that could be detected in utero, accidents that may occur to the mother after the 20th week that could cause the fetus trauma or stress that would not allow to it live, or live a normal life. So are we as a society now going to take care of that child? What happens to the this person if now the state has to take care of this neonate if the mother doesn't live? Who picks up that expense? If the child becomes a ward of the state, they reside in the state until they are 18 and then kicked to the curb. The statistics un non adopted wards of the state being successful aren't that great. So are we being unfair to the unborn you ask? Better not to pass poorly written legislation than to pass garbage to appeal to the conservative right. Now you may think I am some liberal(which I am not) I have as a street paramedic for 10 years, you don't know what hard is until you deliver a preemie in the field, knowing it was going to die, or worse watching it happen. Sadly, with journalists and matinee idols flying cover for the abortion industry, the voices of morality are lost in the din. Until we can learn to use popular media to our advantage (and gain some leverage there) we won't make any progress. Preaching to the choir and slinging pejoratives at those who champion abortion isn't helping, is it? CPT Jack Durish Mon, 28 Sep 2015 16:54:09 -0400 2015-09-28T16:54:09-04:00 2015-09-28T14:53:28-04:00
