The Soldier's name was Barefoot. The Marines SGM ripped his nametag and asked the Soldier for his ID card. Super Ooops that was his name. Lol. We are having a huge inspection, and the SGT MAJ is participating in the inspection (so everyone is spun up). We are out in front of the flag pole, which sits in front of the CG's office. We are all in Class A uniforms. SGT MAJ is traveling through the ranks conducting the inspection and stops in front of a POS PFC that we had, who was in the process of trying to get out of the Corps, and was ridiculous looking in uniform, (the buttons stressing to the max, the pockets flared out) because the jacket and trousers were about 3 sizes too small. When SGT MAJ gets to him, he stops and asks him if he ate in the chow hall, to which the PFC stated he did, the SGT MAJ said "Yeah, you fat F*CK, I bet you eat there alot, get the F@CK out of my formation.

This was followed on by the ultimate SGT MAJ moment ever.

Okinawa, 1987-1988. General Gray was the Commandant, and SGT MAJ Sommers was the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps (and he looked every bit the part). There was an all call for NCOs (Corporals and Sergeants) in the auditorium-this was every USMC Cpl and Sgt on the island. General Gray gave a motivational speech about what needed to be accomplished, and was followed by the SGT MAJ. When the SGT MAJ finished speaking, he opened the floor to questions. There were some good questions, that were formatted in the typical "SGT MAJ, my name is Cpl so and so, and work at 3rd such and such, my question is blahte blahte" to which the SGT MAJ would give guidance and the NCO would sit down. This goes on for 8-10 questions when this Cpl stands up and says "SGT MAJ, I have a question" (this clown's hair was a high fade that essentially had a beak that stuck out like the brim of a baseball cap if you were looking at him sideways-and was definitely beyond being eccentric). The SGT MAJ looked at this guy who was about 30 rows up from him and says "What's that Marine, where is the barber? Come see me after this is over." To which said Cpl dejectedly said "Sir, my question is why can I not get promoted?" SGT MAJ just glared at him, and he sat down. "Next question".
How about getting slammed in front of every single NCO on the island-BAM. The CSM caught the individual and said his "corrective training" was conducting a class on the proper uniform for PT. The catch? Class was at 0200 hrs., and the "students" attending were all of the 1SGs in the battalion! You can imagine how thrilled the 1SGs were to attend the training, as well as their response!
