Bear Bryant, Joe Paterno, Bobby Bowden, Ara Parseghian are the great coaches of yesteryear.

Those coaching today that are on the path towards these greats: Nick Saban (not a bama fan, but you cannot discount what he has done), Urban Meyer, and a slew of coaches at the next level behind them.

I think Knute Rockne (Notre Dame University), Woody Hayes (Ohio State), and Bobby Bowden (Florida State) should also be included in this survey along with Tom Osborne, Joe Paterno, and Bear Bryant. Growing up a Notre Dame fan, I have to vote for Knute Rockne.

With that being said, we have a couple present day coaches that could potentially be added to the discussion in the future. Nick Saban (Alabama) and Urban Myer (Ohio State) are both on pace to be considered a coaching great. Only time will tell if they can be included in conversations with the above mentioned coaching legends.

My vote Tome Osbourne, win or loose he is a cool, calm and collected coach.

Really? Where did you come up with your list? You put Barry Switzer on the list but he isn't the best coach of all time at Oklahoma. I would argue that Bobby Stoops is a better coach than Switzer. Switzer would not had been so successful if another famous Oklahoma football player, who was coaching at Texas didn't teach Switzer the wishbone.

Bud Wilkerson should easily beat three of the four on this list. The only one I would compare to coach Wilkerson on this list is coach Bryant.
