They are interdependent. You can't have one without the other. I know it sounds cliché, but it works. I believe that every single person that serves should be and stay accountable for all of the things that they do. This is in regards to things they do right and the things that they do wrong. Staying accountable constantly allows us to grow, not only as individuals but as units as well. When an NCO did something that was contrary to the Creed, I would ask them "What part of the Creed of Non Commissioned Officers did you just epitomize?" "Was it the part about bringing credit to the CORP of NCO's, providing excellent Leadership, or the part where Officers will have maximum time to do their job?" I found this would get them in a way that no amount of paper, shouting, arguing would ever do. It would end any excuse because there isn't one. They have to justify how or why they were in compliance with the creed. More often then not, they couldn't. So my advice is, if you read and live by the Creed of the Non-Commissioned Officer you will meet those values and morals that you are seeking of your self, and of others.
