https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/awards-for-deployments <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Why does it seem that awards are not given on merit, but more on a political end.  Here's what I mean by this, I wrote up a 638 for a soldier who deserved a MSM (Meritorious Service Medal).  I was told that this soldier would get an AAM (Army Achievement Medal) if they were lucky.  When I asked for the reasoning behind this, I was told that the soldier did not have enough other awards to substantiate an MSM.  What difference does that make? This soldier went above and beyond and set themselves apart from the rest.  Yet this soldier ended up getting the same award as everyone else.  That diminishes the fact that you are given an "award", don't you think?
