At what point did you stop "knowing everything"?

just been thinking over the past few days, about lessons learned in my past few years and such. I can remember a day, not so long ago that I thought I knew everything. Now the older I get, the dumber I seem to feel, but man, I am learning a lot! I have learned so much about society in general. I used to see things as being black and white. Now things have changed. I have come to realize that I dont have the answers for everything (being a youth pastor taught me that) and some times the right answer just isn't the logical answer. Anyway, just curious to know when everyone else quit "knowing everything" too.

The answer to this could go humorously or quite the opposite. Since this is the humor section, I will say that I've had several occasions where I actually found out I didn't know everything. The first being when I was a young A1C at Osan AB S Korea and I found that a SSGT gets irritated at an A1C always saying "I know" ) lol. The next, as SSG Thomas Livingston so admirably put it, when I got married. Soon I will find out that knowing everything is not the battle, as we bring a baby girl into the world. I'm, regrettably, screwed and will never know everything ever again. Cheers lol

SGT John Rauch Some never reach that point even at my age,but thankfully i am not one of them.I think for me it was when i realized exactly how smart my father was for the first time.

First semester in college. I found out there were many people smarter than me and whatever I learned was humbling compared to the knowledge that existe in the world. My Army career was non-stop learning as I started in Aviation and went to Tanks, Finance, to writing DFAS' SOP on Disaster Relief, Comptroller for a NG THC, working in the 18 ABC Comptrollers shop.

Let me put it this way...

I'm a consultant and am paid because I know what's wrong and how to make it right. If it's ever perceived that I "don't know everything" I'm pretty much doomed.

"Well, in this situation, here's what I recommend..." becomes "Welcome to Taco Bell. Would you like a chalupa combo meal today?"

I would have to say the day I put on Technical Sergeant I realized how much I do not know. I feel like I know nothing and that there was not enough "mentoring" or leadership by previous supervisions. I spend a lot of time doing research on things that I should have already known by now. Now whatever I do not know, I write it down and look it up when I have the time. It does not do well to be in a meeting and feel like everything just went over your head, so beforehand I look up what what's on the agenda. Seems to work so far but that won't last forever I'm sure.

When I retired from Army. While in service and in a leadership position you always knew it all. Even when you did not know. You never let troops know you did not know.

I've always conceded to the fact I don't know everything. Unless I'm arguing with my husband... Then of course I'm right, you're wrong, and the divine goddess of wisdom requires an offering of wine and chocolate along with your most solumn, "yes dear".
