I’m currently in AIT. I was told at some point that I’d have to have a dental exam done while here. Just checking to see if this is true. Thank you!

Honestly focus on your school and let events happen as they come up.

I recommend this. That's what MEPS and Reception was for. Typically you have to get checked on all your medical stuff every 12 months. But for new recruits that's essentially all up to snuff since you just had that all done.

If it needs to get done bad enough your instructors will be forced to ensure it gets done.

My entire class (officer quartermaster school) was being given a similar run around regarding medical stuff and we bombarded the local clinic with appointment requests. The COL doctor running the place nixed our requests and said do it after you graduate.

What I suspect happens is your initial medical exam was 12 months ago, and you had a longer than normal was for a shipment date to basic, and while in training your status expired, but since you aren't a fully trained soldier in the free and clear to make medical appointments on your own you got caught in a very common problem with the Army and Medical Readiness.

I’ve been here about 2 weeks. However, I just got classed. First two weeks were hold over weeks. Is it 2 weeks from the day I get classed?

If you are having dental issues like a cracked tooth or pain, go to dental sick call. If you are dental readiness class (DRC) 3 or 4, yes, make an appointment and go to dental. If you are DRC 1 or 2, no, focus on school. Other than that, Soldier on, graduate AIT, go do great and wonderful things.
