As a prior service NG who is now AD for three years, why would my DD Form 4 not have me down for IRR after my enlistment ends?

Just got done going over some pertinent info regarding my enlistment to AD from NG, there isn't a IRR attached to that contract. I thought regardless it was an 8 year. Does anybody have any information?

Since you did ARNG time you shouldn't have to do IRR. All of that will get explained when you go through SFL-TAP

when you joined the guard you signed the 8 year commitment, so your new contract will not include the 8 years. Now if you did 2 years NG and 4 years AD time you will still have 2 years left in the IRR, however if you completed 4+ years in NG and/or 4+ years on AD and complete 8 years total you will not have an IRR commitment.

When you are six months from your ETS you will meet with a Reserve Component Career Counselor and be offered a chance to contract into the USAR, ARNG or IRR. If you have an MSO at the end of your ETS and do nothing you will be automatically transferred into the IRR. Your DD214 will say Command Transfered to: CONTROL GROUP REINF.

You will never see an IRR contract attached to an Active Duty enlistment or reenlistment contract.

Well how long did you serve in the NG? Mine is sort of a similar situation. I was in the Guard for 7 years. One 6yr contract, and a 2yr re-enlistment with less than 2 years fulfilled. I then transferred to AD within my guard re-enlistment but my contract is only 3 years and not a day longer. Are you wanting to do the IRR program Or something?
