They knew their job better than I for the most part. My job was to help them be better and safer. The result was I respected them more. That said, for those who pushed back on being a team player, covering their shipmates six, etc. I had little respect or tolerance.<br /><br />We tend to be more critical of ourselves with the second guessing. The extreme version is the "what could I have done different to save...."? I never dwelled on the level of "leader" as I spent much more time looking outward vs. inward. CAPT Kevin B.
