I do realize that SGM Erik Marquez, and subsequently I also realize the article is entirely satirical. I found it entertaining nonetheless, and thought others might appreciate the humor as well.

While the humor of it seems really funny to some, but you need to dig into your showcase of jokes and explain why you have done this; when in reality, this is being done. I find the humor sad, because this really does put the taxpayer on the hook for new uniforms.

SSG Lloyd Becker BSBA-HCM, MBA respectfully I cannot argue with the idea that this IS a sad testament to our "military-Industrial" complex. But we as soldiers have an uncanny ability to find a seed of humor in the worst of situations. It is how we deal with the unfathomable. Firefighters, Paramedics, and Police have the same coping mechanisms.
Like all good humor, this story has a seed of truth to it. Tragic though it is, humor lacking some truth is rarely very humerus. From the opposite spectrum, humor is often a good mechanism to cement truths into the minds of people for it provokes thought on both cognitive and sub-conscious levels as the brain tries to reconcile the truth with the humor.
Lastly, I am in full agreement that the "forgotten man", the taxpayer is the loser in all this, while the service-members come in a close second for having to deal with "change" for the sake of contractor profits, and future corporate jobs for some government acquisition types. I hope my explanation is not lacking.
