PV2 Private RallyPoint Member7162050<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>So, I got in trouble on 31 May 2020. I was flagged for 5 months as a PV2 and then on 10 November 2020, I got a Field Grade Article 15 and got busted down to PV1, however, my leadership kept letting me wear a PV2 rank. Anyway, I did my extra duty for 45 days and got off that on 19 December 2020 and then went on block leave. When I got back from leave on 10 January 2021, my flag was removed and I was supposed to get promoted twice to PFC on 1 March 2021 but I got flagged again for ABCP so I wasn’t promoted. I got off ABCP on 1 June 2021 and today on 5 August 2021, I checked my erb and it said that I got PV2 on 1 August 2021 but my leadership told me today that I’m supposed to get PFC so I don’t know what’s going on, I need some insight. One more note, I came in the Army on 20 August 2019 so I almost have 2 years time in service.Army promotion after Article 15 and ABCP flag?2021-08-05T22:16:47-04:00PV2 Private RallyPoint Member7162050<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>So, I got in trouble on 31 May 2020. So sounds like from all of that that while your command let you wear your PV2, they were not supposed to. So going by regulations, you got your PV2 on 1 Aug 2021. You have TIS no problem, but your time in grade does not start until the effective date you got your PV2. I am not completely sure but you are not eligible for a TIG waiver due to your being busted and numerous flags so you are stuck at being PV2 for 4 months. So you can look to pin on PFC Dec 2021 or Jan 2022 provided you do not screw up again.Response by SSG Brian G. made Aug 5 at 2021 11:13 PM2021-08-05T23:13:56-04:002021-08-05T23:13:56-04:00LTC John Mohor7162312<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I can’t help but wonder from your story here …did you have a dad that served in Baumholder, GE in 1989-1991 timeframe? Doing the 6 months TIG, you would have gotten PV2 on/around 11Jul21 had it not been for all the flags you got. March 2021 promotion to PFC would be impossible because waivers are not authorized for those that got an Article 15 that resulted in a reduction.<br /><br />Flagging actions will delay promotion. Then after flag is lifted, Commander still has to approve or disapprove the 4187 for promotion. Just because you're eligible doesn't make it automatic. <br /><br />Again, PV2 is the correct rank. Feb '22 is when you'll be eligible for PFC as long as you don't screw up again.Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 5 at 2021 11:47 PM2021-08-05T23:47:01-04:002021-08-05T23:47:01-04:00SGM Private RallyPoint Member7162985<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It's never too early in a career to start reading AR 600-8-19 to find out how promotions work.<br />After a reduction in grade, that is your new date of rank, and no waivers are authorized for early advancement after a reduction.<br />Barring any further flags, you will be eligible for PFC on 1 FEB, and SPC on 1 AUG next year.<br />Learn from this and stay out of trouble, do what you're told, demonstrate initiative, do the right thing when no one is looking, and get DLC1 completed when you pin on SPC.Response by SGM Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 6 at 2021 9:38 AM2021-08-06T09:38:21-04:002021-08-06T09:38:21-04:00SGT Robert Wager7163001<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>You got a field grade Art 15 reducing you to E-1. <br /><br />I think you need to worry more about getting your proverbial fecal matter together more than what month you pin on PFC. With each adverse action you receive, there is a counseling statement explaining what to expect, also in your FG paperwork you received what your new date of rank would be. <br /><br />Your actions caused this. Read the regulations and understand them. You are very early in your career and you can overcome it. Contrition and hard work are the only two things that will fix this. The next formation you stand in, look at the soldiers standing to the left and right of you and KNOW that you are going to have to work TWICE as hard as them to gain the trust and confidence of your leadership to get the same level of respect as them. Keep your head down and do the work. The rank will come later.Response by SGT Robert Wager made Aug 6 at 2021 9:48 AM2021-08-06T09:48:24-04:002021-08-06T09:48:24-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member7163239<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Sounds like you should be promoted to PV2 not PFC. Regardless of what rank your COC let you wear, if you were busted down to PV1 that is your current rank. IF they promote you, it will ne based off of your TIG, which will be the date of you getting busted down. I dont believe they would waiver to promote you early based on what I read.<br />If your LES is showing you are a PV2 thats likely correct, its also the easiest way to find out. <br />Finally, fix yourself quick, fast and in a hurry. This is an awful way to start a very rewarding career in the military. Lose the body fat, follow the rules and get good at your job. Your Article 15 CAN AND WILL BE USED AGAINST YOU if you ever face a courtmartial or SEP board. I know it can be rough at times, but the rewards are worth it. Besides, no one ever looks back and tells stories about the time they ALMOST did some cool stuff.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 6 at 2021 12:07 PM2021-08-06T12:07:54-04:002021-08-06T12:07:54-04:00SSG Bill McCoy7163590<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>You were busted to PV1. Your next promotion can NOT be to PFC except under very unique circumstances - what used to be called a "Meritorious Promotion." Generally, and probably in your case, you have to put time in grade as a PV2 before PFC, and likewise for PFC to SPC. Welcome to adulthood and I don't mean that in a negative way. "It is what it is."<br /><br />You sound like a good guy and as unfair as it may SEEM, you now have to prove yourself. Force yourself into a "CAN DO" attitude and you'll do fine AND you will feel better. You just have to realize that no one wants a soldier to fail and with a positive attitude with your Squad Leader especially, you'll make your rank as fast as possible.<br /><br />Hang in there and put your mistakes behind you.
