Are you your Brothers Keeper?

I know without a doubt that I would be there at the drop of a dime for any of my Brother or Sisters. Can you look at yourself and say the same? I don't mean your familial brothers or sisters, but your Brothers and Sisters in Arms. Since being on RP I've had three Brothers say that to me, and it means the world. A person you've never met, to tell you that he or she has you in their hearts and minds, that is a debt you can never repay. Are you there? Are YOU YOUR BROTHERS OR SISTERS KEEPER?

I read an article on here yesterday and it referenced one of those guys who served but fabricated a lot about his time in via a diary. There was one quote that stood out in the midst of it all.

"When people ask him why he joined the service he retorts with a question of his own: “Would your coworkers die for you?”

Regardless of his character and bs diary he wrote - that's a solid quote that stood out and has meaning to it.

Although attributed to God, wrongfully so, this is my attitude.
"The phrase "God helps those who help themselves" is a popular motto that emphasizes the importance of self-initiative and humanistic philosophy."

By that, I will do a lot to help those in need, if they are doing all they can to help themselves, pure charity helps no one out of their condition. I do that without reservation or expectation of anything in return and when possible anonymously. Its the old "Give a man a fish thing" for me.

You know it's funny, regardless of our branches, and our petty differences I can honestly say I feel closer to anyone who has served or is serving than my own family. I think it because our Brother and Sisterhood is extended across the world and at any given time we have all similar experiences from combat, to bad supervisor, to crazy times, to hard times, I think it's those events that pull us together, why we take a death of any branch more to heart than your average citizen. We feel for each other, we help each other because at the end of the day the government can only do so much the rest is up to us.

I think at the end of the day most who joined the military would be there for their Brother and Sisters in arms without second guessing it. I can say with full certainty that I would be there for anyone who has served because we all fought for the same thing and owe it to each other to look after each other.

Great stuff SWAN....motivates me MAN! ....your question sparks further questions ....who still contributes to "Army Emergency Relief" ?
Who contributes to the VFW?
Lastly, this is an open question...what type of employment (new, old or hasn't been created yet). Would the AVERAGE Veteran excel at after service. Even if it where 6 months of temporary employment And what should the weekly? Biweekly or monthly salary be?
