Are you still thankful to be an American?

On Canadian Thanksgiving Day, Michael Moore tweeted, "This is the day when Canadians give thanks that they aren't US".

My knee-jerk reaction was "I give thanks that I'm not him."

However, after reflecting I asked myself, "Am I still thankful that I'm an American?" After all, it doesn't mean the same thing any more. And this contentious election year has shaken my faith in our ability to reclaim our heritage.

I don't know about you, I thank God everyday for my life, my wife and children, and that I'm an American. Regardless of the erosion of our liberty by the Progressive Movement and their fascination with intellectualism, I remain convinced that there are still enough of us remaining who can once again rise up and say "We are the people and We tell the government what it can do, not the other way around"

I am absolutely thankful. The Army has afforded me, among many many things, the opportunity to see how fortunate I am by sheer chance of birth.

And I might remind all those America haters that the gate swings both directions. With the caveat, most other countries are more restrictive on who they accept.

I am still proud to be an American. I was proud to serve in it's Armed Forces. I am proud that I live in a Country where we can still follow the American Dream of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. I was free to marry a person of my choosing. I was free to start a family of my own. I was free to purchase a home in a place of my choosing. I am free to work a job that provides me a sustainable living and if the job doesn't suit me, I am also free to quit that job.

There are many things I am thankful for and if there's one thing military life has taught me, it's how much we take for granted in this Country.

this Clown is the deciding factor I lost 80 Pounds and cut my hair and Keep it short ... and never will ware a Baseball cap again...
I was in Line at the grocery store 7 years ago getting Items for My parents when a Teenager (15-16) asked me for My autograph ... and when I asked why ... She simply said ... aren't you Michael Moore...
i went home delivered the groceries went to the Dr's office got a Consult to a Bariatric surgeon and Got a gastric Lap band implanted
Now I Look and sound Like John Goodman

I'm thankful that I was born and raised here. I am thankful to actually realize how good some of us have it here compared to other places. Had I been born anywhere else, I may be thankful to be there because I wouldn't know any better, but I'm glad I'm here.

I'm rarely proud of my government, their laws, their taxes or their imposition, but I couldn't be happier to be American. There's not many things I'd rather do than serve this great nation. However, I do find myself wishing the people of this nation were more fitting of the services rendered.

While I was not born in this great nation of ours, I have always been grateful to become a nationalized citizen. But above all, thankful to be given the privilege to serve our country for 32 years. I have traveled the world as a Aircrewman and Port Dawg but I have yet to find a better country to call home.
