Hillary has a lot of these new spending plans that sound good until you dig into the numbers. Much the same as bragging about low unemployment and millions of jobs created in the Obama administration that Hillary often mentions. Voters should not go with her spending plans until they do some homework. But how many take the time to do that??Response by Sgt Tom Cunnally made Sep 21 at 2015 7:33 AM2015-09-21T07:33:36-04:002015-09-21T07:33:36-04:00Cpl Jeff N.981193<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>College should be viewed as an investment in yourself. Look at the cost versus the benefit. If you create 100,000 of debt for yourself and get a degree that will only get you a job making $50k or less per year you probably made a mistake. There are lots of less expensive ways to get the degree. Use Community Colleges for your first two years, then transfer to a larger school for your last two years. Live at home, eliminate living/dorm costs. Work your way through school. It will take longer but it can be done with little debt. <br /><br />Everyone wants a freebie and there are some out there. Not everyone is eligible for them though. Higher education is not a right nor is it for everyone. You can make as much being a good plumber or electrician as you can with a college degree (Depending on the degree).Response by Cpl Jeff N. made Sep 21 at 2015 8:05 AM2015-09-21T08:05:25-04:002015-09-21T08:05:25-04:001SG Private RallyPoint Member981350<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Spending more money the government doesn't have or making too expensive for the normal person? I think that Hillary Clinton is a lying, cheating, dishonest, uncaring, elitist with no interest in helping anyone but Hillary. That being said, she does make a point that the American University system does not create anything but indentured servants. When College graduates come out of school with crippling debt. Something does need to be done about the skyrocketing cost of higher education. I think that if the government wants to do something about it, they need to cap the amount that a school can charge for tuition rather than trying to pay for it in the first place. I mean there are price gouging laws in place to protect consumers, but nobody applies them to colleges and universities. I had considered going back and getting a bachelors degree online from Arizona State University, and stopped considering when I found out that for an online degree it would cost $50,000. If our economy was strong enough that a person could spend that kind of money for a degree with a reasonable presumption that their employment options would allow them to pay off that debt and live a reasonable lifestyle, that would be one thing. The way the economy is right now, a lot of people are not finding work in related fields out of college. They end up with a mountain of debt, and no way to climb out from under it. This leads to bankruptcy and default screwing their credit forever, and putting them further behind economic stability. So while I agree something needs to be done, I do not think that throwing money at the problem is the solution. I think penalizing price gouging is a better solution.Response by PO3 Steven Sherrill made Sep 21 at 2015 10:31 AM2015-09-21T10:31:17-04:002015-09-21T10:31:17-04:00MCPO Roger Collins981514<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Total lack of understanding and using populism to garner votes from our ignorant youth that has been indoctrinated by the same institutions that will gain funding from the average taxpayer. Do as my state did, if you want something for free vote for the state to take care of their resident. TN provides two years free for all HS graduates. I don't particularly like it, but decisions should be made that are supported by those paying the bills. There is over a Trillion dollar debt now and this type of discussion exacerbates the problem due to the students waiting for a handout for their poor choices.
