McGown "Gunny" I have been in this industry along with my military career for over 35 years now and it’s an awesome industry. You can make e a lot of money with the right attitude and you can reach higher levels of management with your military leadership skills and background. It takes a real self-starter and a highly motivated individual that loves to communicate on the phone and who really knows how to sell and negotiate. There are rules to be followed and I believe veterans make great collectors, assistant collection managers, collection managers, directors, vice president of operations, and right up to Presidents, COOs, and CEOs. It is a great industry for IT savvy individuals, compliance minded individuals, and Human resources/Training. The opportunities are there for a lot of veterans. It does have a stigma attached to it, but so do a lot of other positions in life. Get over it!

Great Post Gunny! If anyone has any questions about the industry or if you need information on a great recruiter that I have drop me a message on RP. I'm more than happy to help out or tell you more. Currently I buy healthcare debt now and have about 15 to 20 agencies that collect it throughout the entire United States. COL Mikel J. They have a job to do and I can respect that. Early in my life, I was HORRIBLE at managing money and had my fair share of folks calling. I am sure that there is good and bad debt collectors. As far as being eager to work in the business, I honestly don't know enough about it to say one way or the other.
