One thing I always bring up at home is implications from your actions...you do this or you act like this, well here are the results. But I always try to incorporate my own experiences or instances I've seen in the past, and not something I googled. I understand we want the best for our children, but we also have to let them stumble, it is part of the learning process. This is something I have battled with my spouse many many times. We always come to the rescue when times get tough, I say, let them! Who is going to rescue them when we leave earth? "Tomorrow is not guarantee to anyone, and these girls have no clue". And who rescues me and their mom when times are tough? You don't see me calling my mom and dad for advice or money. We dig ourselves out of the hole even if it takes 3-6 months even a year, but we do it on our own. But what do I know, I'm just the puertorican. Hahahaha!!!!Response by SSG Jose M. To answer your question, no. We are not preparing our future generations for the challenges life outside of the nest brings. I tell my boys all the time that life can be pleasant but it can also kick you hard and keep kicking you while you're down with no sign of letting up. The challenge in the digital age is kids get the instant gratification from playing a game or updating their status on social media and they think that's how life is supposed to work. Parents are really quick to put a device into their child's hand rather than spend the time with them and be parents. Go to a restaurant and watch a family - I guarantee you that every single one of them are on a device of some kind. It scares the crap out of me that these kids are the future of our republic and I fear that unless something drastically changes, we're not going to last much longer. We're already seeing it in the political realm and it's a matter of time before every facet of our lives mirror what goes on in politics. What's worse, these devices are also teaching our kids everything because after all, Google knows everything right? In my opinion, digital devices need to be controlled at the parent level and kids need to be slowly brought into using them.Response by CW3 Michael Bodnar made Oct 4 at 2018 2:24 PM2018-10-04T14:24:12-04:002018-10-04T14:24:12-04:00LTC Stephen F.4018942

In many areas especially in home school and private school where traditional core education is still the foundation people with faith in Christ are teaching children how to learn instead of focusing on rote education., my friend PO3 Phyllis Maynard
If logic and reasoning is part of a curriculum that is a great sign that the children are being taught how to both discern and learn.
I don't decry the use of technology as long as it is viewed and used as a tool and not an end in itself or worse yet a babysitter :-)
FYI COL Mikel J.
