Are we as a Nation failing to adequately remember/honor our WWII veterans?

This weekend Bill Guarnere of Easy Company, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne died of natural causes.  He and his fellow soldiers of Easy Company made a sacrifice for our nation that far exceeds what it seems that the majority of the American people to could comprehend.  I feel that if we as a nation mourn the passing of a personally haunted entertainer who succumbed to their addictions that we should adequately honor and remember those who left their lives behind to endure countless hardships and years away from their family.  Do you feel that we are adequately honoring our WWII/Korean/Vietnam Veterans as we should?

I absolutely agree, we are so concerned with what is going on now, that we forget what has happened in the past.

Movies like Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan briefly brought them to the forefront, but unfortunately it hasn't lasted as long.

One thing however is that now there is more respect for the military then there was in Vietnam, so for that I am grateful, but I do hope that we never forget the greatest generation and that we always remember them for what they did.

Our Labor and Memorial Day are thankfully days that we can honor them.

It's an unfortunate commentary on our society that we are obsessed with the trash that passes for entertainers these days but we ignore so completely the efforts of those who dedicate at least a portion of, if not their very lives to preserving our way of life. We are a culture in decline.

"Our society" has become too fickle and too worried about how things will effect their everyday-social media life, they don't care about those who have given them those opportunities.

Sadly, I'm not near as patriotic as I should be, but I run into a slew of veterans. If I'm not on a call for service, I always make sure to shake their hand and ask about their former unit(s) and deployments. And to watch their face glow because some youngin who wasn't alive while they were in the service actually cares.

They truly were the greatest generation...their devotion to duty and sacrifice is beyound comprehension our only glimpse is movies and books...they are my hero's as a kid and as a old man!!!RIP

Yes!

Remembrance is falling fast, not a good thing.

I know of only one group that is geared towards educating remembrance for WWII service members, more specifically, the Liberators.
