Are we able to wear Coyote brown fleece cap in garrison?

Just a general question, I've checked AR 670-1, and it says foliage green and black, but an NCO informed me the coyote brown fleece cap can be worn with the OEF-CP (Multicams) and OCP, it's just not yet added to the regulation. Is there any clarification on this?

I'd suggest to that NCO that you both need to read AR 670-1 again. It's clearly stated in black and white what's allowed. Just because something isn't mentioned doesn't mean that you can do it.

The wear of the fleece cap during cold weather in garrison is usually a division commanders policy. I know when I was stationed at Fort Riley if the temperature fell below freezing we were authorized to wear the fleece cap in lieu of the beret/PC.

Another source to look, besides AR 670-1 is DA Pam 670-1. One tells you what you can wear, the other tells you HOW you can wear it. Also, more often than not, it is a Division or Post policy as to when Soldiers can wear the fleece cap during cold weather. And, after reviewing DA Pam 670-1, date 1 July 2015, it states the foliage green or black. So, just to save yourself some headache, just wear the foliage green until it's official wear out date of 30 September 2017.

Only in Afghanistan. Outside of that theater, it's the black fleece cap with that uniform.

The brown didn't exist when i was in, black or the greenish blue feece caps were the regulation cold weather headgear back between 06-09

As long its G.I., I don't think anyone would say anything. I know one of the PSGs in my company wear his tan/brown fleece cap with his multi-cams, and OCPs.

The only fleece cap authorized is black. The verbage in 670-1 is plain english in this matter

Only thing I've ever been able to find is in DA Pan 670-1. Only says green or black fleece cap. And that green due out date is 2017.
