Are thet doing PT at airborne school? I switched units to an airborne slot have been in my new guard unit for 5 months and I have a good PT on record. I just spoke to the retention NCO and re-enlisted yesterday in the guard for 6more years. So I am qualified. I can pass my pt test. Someone from my unit said I have to take a pt test before I can go. Do I have to take the test cause I thought they was exempt? I am just wondering are they testing at schools? Are they doing PT at Airborne School during covid?2020-12-16T19:54:33-05:00SGT Eric Davis6585842

This may be a crazy question but I seen a few post that said since covid they aren’t making anyone do PT test or PT at school. I was there in June. We didn’t do PT or the APFT during ground week, but we did during tower week. They are still running place to place but no PT test before, but that could change. There are a few things I KNOW.
1. You have to quarantine for 2 weeks before (be there a few days short of 5 weeks)
2. Even on our days off and at the end of the day we aren't allowed to leave barracks. Straight from training to barracks, no gym, no store, no seeing the city. It will be a long 5 weeks especially being in the same sleeping quarters as privates right out of basic. I've already stocked up on books and switch games and books.
3. We will still run everywhere, but taking PT test is subject to change. As of 3 weeks ago no PT test were being taken, just showing up with proof you passed your last PT test (DA Form 705).

When are you heading that way man? If you have to go beginning of January for quarantine I'll be there too!Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 22 at 2020 5:45 PM2020-12-22T17:45:49-05:002020-12-22T17:45:49-05:00MAJ Anne McGee6618005

You are required to take a PT test before you go and you will take one on the first day of training. Half of your company will wash-out on the PT test alone. Airborne School requires you to be physically fit and mentally tough. If you show any weakness at any time during training the Black hats will exploit that and try to make you quit, (go the the White House for some donuts...). Just remember you are there to do a job, which is to complete your training and get your wings, and the Black Hats are there to make sure only the worth graduate. My advice is to be over-prepared.Response by MAJ Anne McGee made Dec 30 at 2020 11:55 AM2020-12-30T11:55:55-05:002020-12-30T11:55:55-05:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member6662620

Here is my Updated answer.
Quick answer - No.

At the moment Airborne school is not conducting an APFT or even doing morning PT or running anywhere.
Airborne school is the easiest school in the Army right now at the moment (Even the cadre say that).

Only down side to this is you have to quarantine here 2 weeks before school starts. Make sure you bring enough to keep you busy because you wont be allowed to leave the area. That means no PX or anything. Books, good 4G data to watch movies off Netflix or hulu, Nentendo switch doesn't matter because for a little over 2 weeks you will only be waking up eating, back to your barracks, then lunch then back to your barracks then dinner them back to your barracks for bedtime

You'll be in Benning for a total of 5 weeks not being able to go anywhere. I've been here 3 weeks. It's not bad, I've been napping a lot makes the time go by faster.Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 15 at 2021 9:48 AM2021-01-15T09:48:10-05:002021-01-15T09:48:10-05:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member6674539

*UPDATE ON THE UPDATE*
As of today the Battalion Commander said that we are not doing organized PT in the morning and running. We did run every other day usually anywhere from 1 mile to 3 miles but the furthest we ran was 3. Now weekends obviously we didn't do shit and on the days we didn't run it was like push-ups, sit-ups, and practicing PLFs, then breakfast, then training for the day, and then our free time. Hope that answers it.Response by PFC Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 22 at 2022 9:59 AM2022-02-22T09:59:48-05:002022-02-22T09:59:48-05:002020-12-16T19:54:33-05:00
