Are there any Drill Sergeant units near Minnesota? If not, would it even be possible to go the DS route without having a unit in Minnesota?

I'm currently in the National Guard and am looking into the Reserves to become a Drill Sergeant. I can't seem to find any DS units in Minnesota. Would it even be possible for me to go the DS route without having a unit in Minnesota?

So, as far as I know, the only drill sergeant slots in the guard and reserves are with the Recruit Sustainment Programs (RSP). We definitely have them here in California so I would be surprised if there weren't slots in other states. Quickest way to find out is to reach out the RSP program in your state and ask. Usually there is an application process to join an RSP unit, but once you are in, I believe DS school is an option (especially if you are in the ASI slot for it).

If you're willing to commute there's nothing stopping you from joining an out of state unit. I commuted from Louisiana to Arkansas when my wife was stationed at FT. Polk. Your other option would be to try and find an RSP unit that will send you.

2-377th has a company of Drill Sergeants at Ft Snelling in the Minneapolis area. Message me and I can get you in touch with them.

There is a unit in Ft McCoy, WI. I believe they have a Detachment in Ft Snelling.

The 84th Div Tng. is located in Milwaukee, Wi. I served as as a Drill Sgt from my unit in Fond du Lac, Wi. It is still a long way from Mn. But you could try contacting them, and see if there are any other units closer to you...good luck
