I'm not sure if you are in the 11th Sig and if you are see if the civilian John Ritter is still in the headquarters building. I spent almost my entire 4 year enlistment there. I might could answer a few things. I was in MEDDAC, but since the vet clinic was far from the hospital and the barracks, I didn't spend much time in either. If you want to know about the surroundings, though I can help with that. Near the mountains and there are hiking, running and riding trails all over the place. Ramsey Canyon is a nice place to go. Local attractions within weekend driving distance are the community of Bisbee, Tombstone, and Tucson. Karchner (not sure I spelled that right) Cave is near by, if you like caving, but you have to reserve a spot to enter well in advance. I believe MWR still has the horse trail riding stables, and there is a private mount area as well as the B-Troop 4th Cav Volunteer unit, if you are interested in horses. Pretty place. Close enough to the mountains to have trees and a stream nearby in some areas. Close enough to the border to be warm all year long. Has occasional snow events, but the last snow I remember was a dusting that melted by 10:00 am. Had a nice gym while I was there and a decent library. Even though it's been a long time since I was there(1972-73), it was an enjoyable period during my time in the Army. We've been back to visit twice. I hope you'll find it pleasant as well.
