With the current goings on with Russia, inciting civil unrest in neighboring former Russian territories, I believe this could get sticky. The US government has been wanting the Syrian government over thrown for years, now look what they got. I think a stable dictatorship in Syria is better than an ISIS controlled, chaotic country. Maybe Russia can assist in bringing stability back to that region. Or will Russia be the country that these not to popular regimes turn to for assistance. They have been in the past.Response by 1SG Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 1 at 2015 2:58 AM2015-09-01T02:58:42-04:002015-09-01T02:58:42-04:00Cpl James Waycasie931611

Probably so, Looks like Sh#t is about to hit the fan. The Russians have learned much fighting their own terrorist conflicts in Chechnya and Dagestan, etc. As well as dealing with terrorist attacks in their homeland. Hopefully, they would be working to destabilize ISIS. It would be interesting to have Spetsnaz fighting on "our" side against a common foe.Response by LTC Stephen F. made Sep 1 at 2015 9:47 AM2015-09-01T09:47:26-04:002015-09-01T09:47:26-04:00LTC John Shaw932150

No real details in the link, let's hope the Russians do some damage to ISIS/ISIL, but I believe their only interest is keeping Assad in power to keep their interests protected.
The Alawite and Christian populations will be wiped out with ISIL in control.
The US needs to decide what is our interest and commit the level of force necessary to keep our interests.Response by LTC John Shaw made Sep 1 at 2015 11:55 AM2015-09-01T11:55:48-04:002015-09-01T11:55:48-04:002015-09-01T01:58:05-04:00
