They'll tell you when you can (/should) wear the new APFU. Off duty or on your own time, I believe you are authorized to wear the new APFU. It's available and the ALARACT talks about its wear. Here's the ALARACT message:

http://soldiersystems.net/2014/08/01/us-army-issues-alaract-for-new-army-physical-fitness-uniform-and-black-microfleece-cap/

I don't see a date there for starting to wear the new APFU, but I do see 1QFY14 (Oct 14) as the date it will be available. The message does say that the wear out date for the old PT uniform is 30 Sep 17 and everyone must have the new APFU by 1 Oct 17. The for sale version of the new APFU is available in the clothing sales store on Fort Meade (and probably everywhere else, I would guess).

I can't find the new fleece cap or shorts however, so I'm guessing you'll have some NCOs complaining about mixed uniforms.Response by MAJ Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 15 at 2014 9:28 AM2014-11-15T09:28:09-05:002014-11-15T09:28:09-05:00SFC William Swartz Jr1026105

Yes.Response by SFC William Swartz Jr made Oct 8 at 2015 11:28 AM2015-10-08T11:28:27-04:002015-10-08T11:28:27-04:002014-11-15T07:16:29-05:00
