Are Americans naive about the intentions or motives of politicians? Do you believe politicians have your best interest?

That's actually a fairly complex question, on the one hand I can understand the cynical view certainly. However, in the course of my wife and I having asked for help with various things, interestingly, we've genly found that we've actually been tried to be helped many times, in point of fact. I'm obviously not meaning to be deliberatelynaive, or look through rose colored glass if you will, I'm just saying that, within the psychological limit of needing to restrain how much water you try to draw from their well in seeking their help, most legislators and or their staffs we've found do genuinely at least try that's all I'm trying to say honest.

I think people want to believe they are doing work for the common good. However, I believe, elected officials get to the Capitol or to their respective state, county or other office thinking they are there to do good and immediately on arrival head to the dark side.

Do I think they have my, or our best interests at heart? Absolutely not! They all do not care one bit about their constituents until six months before reelection.

Politicians don't have our best interests at heart, but statesmen do. Americans are naive about politicians' motives for the same reason why they're willing to buy a used car for a lot more than they should from a gouging dealer.

The public hardly knows what the politicians are doing let alone their intentions. The Fourth Estate flies cover for the progressives that share the same ideology with "journalists" and exaggerates the sins and omissions of those who don't.

I take that,as 2 questions. First Americans aren't naive, they are stupid and uninformed! Well not all of us but the 90% give the rest a bad name. As far as politicians go I believe most have our best interests at heart. We simply disagree on what those interests might be.

Living in a small town, I have come to know my local and state politicians and I would have to say "no", they do not care how the loss of water rights have ruined the local farm economy. They have come to our town and told us to our faces how they are going to help us. And, surprise, nothing happens. I don't see it getting any better as things move up the ladder. As for the very top, I don't think either main candidate will do a damn thing for any of us. I have tried very hard to not criticize our CinC but I think I'm in for a difficult tenure in the future.

the long sitting politicians or career Politicians have their own agendas and motives... most are getting Rich... Damn Rich ... and anyone IN DC more the 18 years are or have become part of the Problem... when you have over 300 multi millionaires in the Governing Bodies of the nation they are not working for "We The People"...
at 18 years They are too well entrenched in someones, or Special Interests, Back pocket...
